Last summer I was determined to drink hot coffee and tea, in spite of the absence of air conditioning and the fact that drinking them raised my body temperature to uncomfortable levels. I just love hot drinks!
As I journey deep into winter, steaming mugs of black currant tea and chipotle-spiked cocoa are my constant comforts. January needs warming up, and a hot beverage is just the thing.
So, for each Wednesday in January, I’ll be sharing a new hot beverage idea with you!
Today’s beverage is a childhood favourite, dressed up with a hint of spice. This warm vanilla milk is a soothing drink to have before bed, or a cozy beverage to enjoy at breakfast with muffins or scones.
Here’s how to make Spiced Vanilla Milk:
Gently heat 2 mug’s worth of creamy, raw milk with one cinnamon stick, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, and a generous dusting of freshly-grated nutmeg. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 2-4 spoonfuls of raw honey. Grate extra nutmeg on top, and serve!
What’s your favourite hot drink for a January day?
