Being a new mom has been amazing, but I’ve also struggled a bit over the past four months to find new routines and new ways to live abundantly–even when I’m exhausted! Today’s post by Kayse is just what I needed to hear. She gets it! I can’t wait to dive in to her new Enjoy Your Life course because it’s exactly what I’ve been needing these past few months!

Being a mom of two has been a bit harder than I ever thought it would be. Growing up, I assumed I’d fall in love, get married, have babies, and be a content stay-at-home-mom. All would be well, and life would be simple, and I’d bake and do crafts and be the best mom ever.

And then real life happened, and it turns out that being a mom means you live in exhaustion. It means you’re pulled in a million different directions, and everyone and their mother feels like it’s their job to tell you what you should be doing!

We are tired. Overworked. Distracted. And we wonder if this is how we’re supposed to be living.

Jesus told us that He came to bring us abundant life.

And if we believe that His word is true, that HE is true, then we know, deep in our souls, that this crazy busy life is not how we were meant to live.

The American norm might tell us that we need to fill our days and do ALL THE THINGS and live up to Pinterest and mommy cliques and more! But our souls cry for stillness and rest.

But how do we change? Where do we start?

Plagued by this tension in my own life, I spent a few hours in a local coffee shop one day, and I literally sketched it all out. How my days went, what I was actually doing, and where I was spending my time. I also took the time to pray through what my priorities currently were, and what they really should be. And then, I rearranged my life in a way that made sense and lined up with what God had called me to do. It was a process that took hours at first, but in the end it gave me a real-life plan that I could actually implement in my real life! And that was well worth it.

For the last few years, when I look around and find my life has overwhelmed me, I come back to this process. I pare down, focus in on my priorities, and ask God to lead me in creating a new plan that actually works. One that allows me to be the person He’s called me to be, in the fullest way. And I start over with a new perspective, and a plan to walk out His will in my life, letting go of the things that don’t matter so I can fully embrace the things that do!

This has made such a difference in my life. Simply taking the time to slow down and systematically reevaluate my priorities, rearrange my schedule, and set into motion a new plan of action has eliminated the feelings of overwhelm that so often come with motherhood. It’s been a life-saver for me, and it’s changed the way we live day-to-day as a family! Life is simpler, and we are more joyful.

Even more, I have a plan that’s full of grace and white space. I’m able to roll with the punches and still live intentionally each day.

After going through this process a few times, I finally compiled it all into one place, where I can easily walk through the steps and get my life back in order every few months or so. And I’m so excited to announce that this process is now available to you, too! It’s a brand new eCourse I’m offering, called Enjoy Your Life!
