Thick Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
sucanat or brown sugar
Preheat the oven to 350F. Butter an 8x8-inch or 11x7-inch pan.
In a large bowl, cream butter, sucanat, and vanilla. Mix in egg.
In a separate bowl, stir together flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
Stir flour mixture into butter mixture until well combined.
Press dough into pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the edges are lightly browned and beginning to pull back from the side of the pan. Do not overbake! Bars will continue to cook as they cool.
